Monitoring multiple LW3 properties of several Lightware devices on the same local area network is made easy with the Monitoring Webtool. This web-based tool can, for instance, be used by AV helpdesk personale to efficiently prevent and resolve issues in class rooms and meeting rooms.

To deploy the Monitoring Webtool, only a .zip file needs to be unzipped to a target directory. No complicated installation process is required. Configuration can be done by editing a config file. Within that config file one can specify which Lightware devices and properties should be monitored together with the values of some global level monitoring options. Starting the Monitoring Webtool is simply achieved by opening the index.html in a browser.

A running Monitoring Webtool instance shows the values of the configured properties for the Lightware devices specified. Changes to the values of a monitored properties of the monitored devices lead to update of the correcponding values displayed. Furthermore, several features increase usability even further. These include, besides others, content-based filtering, device ordering based on their property values and visually highlighting the changes to the values presented.

The Monitoring Webtool is an open-source software released under the MIT license. Therefore, changes are allowed be made to all of its parts (e.g. business logic, UI) as needed. Furthermore, its source code reveals examples of how the Lightware OpenAPI can be used. This knowledge is valuable when one intends to implement a software using the Lightware OpenAPI. Lightware provides the fully functioning Monitoring Webtool free of change without any support service.

The Monitoring Webtool only communicates with the configured Lightware devices on the same local network and does not generate any communication outside of that network. Password protected devices over encrypted channels can also be monitored.

Please refer to the "Compatible products" section to see which Lightware products are supported.
